Krone Kanine FAQ
Your Questions, Answered
What tools do you use?
Krone Kanine uses all manner of tools to help your dog understand the training. We use slip leads, remote collars, prong collars, flat buckle collars, long lines, clickers, food and toys to train the dog. Understanding learning theory and the four quadrants of dog training we use tools to help us communicate. We use play, activities, socialization with other dogs, human contact such as verbal praise or physical touch. All of these things help us convey to the dog which behaviors are unacceptable as well as the ones we love.
Do you use corrections?
That seems to be a sticking point for a lot of people and the answer is yes, we do. At some point after the teaching phase when your dog knows the command and makes an actual choice not to listen, you have to use corrections. This is after a dog has done hundreds of repetitions of the command and has a full understanding of what we are asking. We’re not angry or upset, it's just matter of fact and it's not an emotional episode. We correct the behavior and then move on. Usually, we use this opportunity to reset the situation and give the dog a chance to make the right choice and be rewarded. This is where the real learning occurs.
Will I get to see my dog during their stay?
We do not allow for visits during a board and train program. While we understand it can be hard to be away from your dog, we find that it can be counter-productive. It slows the progress of the program and can actually move it backward. You will be able to see your dog in frequent updates on social media or directly sent to you. Rest assured that we treat every pup like our own.
What does my dog do all day?
During their stay your dog will engage in group playtime, individual and group training sessions and real-world outings to proof their newly learned skills in all environments. All dogs are kenneled overnight for everyone's safety.
